Charles F. Perego has been practicing law in the North Hills section of Pittsburgh
for 38 years. He is a Pittsburgh native and a graduate of Central Catholic High School. He received his bachelor's degree in history and sociology from Oberlin College. He received his juris doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1977.
Admitted to the Bar in 1977, Mr. Perego is admitted to all courts in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and to the U.S. District Court for the Western District in Pittsburgh. Mr. Perego is a member of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations and their Real Property and Probate sections. He maintains a BV Distinguished®

Mr. Perego has extensive experience in real estate and probate law. He has conducted real estate closings for local and national lenders for both residential and commercial transactions. He has issued thousands of owners and lenders title insurance policies. He has represented clients in matters of the purchase, sale, and financing of real estate and in zoning, assessment appeals, landlord and tenant disputes, and title disputes. He regularly is retained by title insurance companies to represent their insured clients. Representative clients have included lenders, general contractors, builders, architects and engineers, a municipality, and several title insurance companies.
Mr. Perego also has extensive experience in estate planning and the drafting of wills and trusts, durable broad-form powers of attorney, and advanced health care directives. He has counseled thousands of clients in end-of-life matters, including asset transfers, inheritance and estate taxes, probates, estate administration, elder law, elder abuse, nursing home care, and guardianships. His long experience has given him particular insight into the emotional impact that these decisions have on clients and their families.
Mr. Perego also advises small businesses in start-up planning, including insurance, documents, contracts and forms, and the formation of corporations and limited liability companies.
Mr. Perego has taught real estate law at many levels, including the Pennsylvania Bar Institute's continuing legal education programs for lawyers. He was a long-time member and chair of the Franklin Park Zoning Hearing Board. He is a long-time member and past chair of the Suburban Health Foundation (Suburban General Hospital) of the West-Penn Allegheny Health System. He is a member of Assumption Catholic Church. He lives in Bellevue with his wife, Mary Pat. They have three children.
Melissa A. Barrett, Esquire
Ms. Barrett is an associate attorney who has been with McMonigle Vesely & Perego PC
since 2003. She focuses her practice on real estate title insurance representing insured owners, insured lenders, and title insurance agents. She also represents sellers and buyers in a variety of real estate matters and clients involved in contract disputes.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Barrett served as a law clerk to the senior judges of the Butler County Court of Common Pleas and was an associate attorney at an insurance defense firm. She has also worked as a real estate closing attorney.
Ms. Barrett is admitted to practice in all courts in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association.
